Since first writing “Stop Counting Calories & Start Losing Weight: The Harcombe Diet“, hundreds of people have written to me and many many more have contributed to the club forum and Facebook with such lovely stories about how they have eventually got rid of their cravings, lost weight and regained health. I met a friend in a charity shop where she keeps returning to buy smaller jeans – how nice is that? She was a size 8, looked fantastic and I was amazed, I was even more amazed when she told me about what she eats.
She said I could be soon like her so I sent for your book, and started your diet on September 20, 2010. I was in a size 18 and menopausal and had that pregnant tummy look like many women my age.
I found it brilliant, sensible and easy to follow. It made so much sense and I recognised the three conditions you refer to. I used to have a feeling in my eyes and could tell it was one o’clock and I felt starving. I now have my hypoglycaemia under control and I no longer have those munchies feeling mid-morning and afternoon.
I cant believe now I am now size 12 and heading towards a 10!. I don’t think of this as a diet, just a change of ways. I have lost at least 2 1/2 stone and my husband about 2 stones. I am now back and fore to that charity shop buying jeans for myself!
My family cant get over the difference in me. my son said, mam you have something on your face….CHEEKBONES….HA HA . At least he is noticing.

I started THD around November 10th, 2010. I was watching Fox News on the internet and saw this nice looking lady from Britain talking about eating more and losing weight. At first I was not sure this was possible but when I found the Club Forum and started reading from real people their experiences I tried it.
I came to China almost two year ago after being in the Czech Republic for 3 years. In the Czech I started loving the sausage and and bread that is so good there. Also, their beer is not bad. When I left the Czech and arrived in China I was 124 Kg. I tried to lose weight and did manage to go down to 121 in about a year. I even joined on line Chinese WW to find out what people eat in China if they want to lose weight. Since the web site was all Chinese that was not very helpful.
When I found THD I was thrilled because 5 minutes walk from my flat is a live food market. This market has fresh meat, vegetables and fruit all unprocessed and perfect for THD. My daily trips to the market has made me very popular among the local vendors that work in the market.
From my start date I weighted 119 Kg as of today my weight is 95 Kg so 24 Kg gone. Losing 52.8 pounds in four months has made me healthier and happier.
What I found hard, giving up coffee for about a week, what I found easy everything else. What could be hard about eating real food.

I have just read it from cover to cover and identified so strongly with it that, at times I was moved to tears…in a very positive way of course! Never has text jumped up from the page and screamed, ‘this is you…..you don’t have to go on like this!’ I can now see that I have been equipped with the knowledge to work towards that very slim and shiny Holy Grail!
